AWS Test Drive

Contributor(s): David Carty

The AWS Test Drive is a free Amazon Web Services tool that allows AWS customers to test third-party software from AWS Partner Network (APN) consulting and technology partners.

The service includes step-by-step instructions with manuals and videos; each AWS Test Drive session varies in length of time -- from a half-hour to several days. Although test drives are free, each customer is required to register with the partner that built the test drive course.AWS Test Drive categories include big data, security, storage, DevOps, digital media and mobile. Partner- and vendor-specific courses include Microsoft, Oracle, Red Hat, Siemens, Adobe and Cisco.

AWS provides consulting and technology partners with the necessary infrastructure to run their sandbox environments on AWS CloudFormation. AWS also provides several Quick Start Test Drive courses that work with native Amazon services.
